St. Peter's Seminary is expecting a bigger batch for academic year 2012. Some 16 to 18 seminarians are being awaited to come on 25 May 2012, the opening day.
In view of this, Fr. Tugs is busy this summer supervising the expansion of some portions of the house in order to accommodate more people. Renovations include the extension of the dining area and insulation of its ceiling; extension of the back corridor connecting the wash area; creation of a passageway from the dormitory to the bathrooms; adding more beds and cabinets; and converting the gym and fitness room to a Recreation Hall. Meanwhile the gym equipment is now moved to the Clergy house for the priests' use.
This year, Father Rector is also planning to make the classroom an audiovisual place by putting up a 42-inch LCD in lieu of the whiteboards. "Teaching in digital mode is expected to increase the classroom input by more than double," he says. "It is also expected to increase the attention span and interest of the students because of the audiovisual part. Since the classroom is wi-fi connected, a teacher will have hundreds of ways of teaching though powerpoint presentations, Youtube videos, and film showing."
Anyone who is interested to donate? Please get in touch with Father Rector.
